About StreamTranscripts
The goal was simple, we wanted to ctrl-f streams. A friend and I started this side-project along with our day-to-days for two reasons: First was the need to just search for a specific arena match in a wow classic vod instead of spending 30mins trying to find the exact game. The second was my experience in fine-tuning transcription models for work which made me naively think this should be easy..
With StreamTranscripts we're building a searchable archive of streams that can be used for all kinds of things:
- Finding the exact moment your favourite streamer talked about a tournament, sponsor, or controversy
- Accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers
- Fact-checking what was actually said, without rewatching the stream
- Tracking mentions of a brand, product, or name across dozens of channels at once
- Creating your own product using our data
The tool is still not perfect, but with a low budget, our own personal GPUs, and a server in Germany we've built something we hope is as useful to you as it is to us.
This isn't a VC-backed startup. There are no investors, no big budget, just a couple of devs paying for servers out of pocket. If you think this archive is useful or helpful and you're able to, consider subscribing, would be great to just cover our costs!
Where your subscription goes
A Pro subscription funds:
- GPU time for transcribing new streams (the expensive part)
- A VPS in Frankfurt running the site 24/7
- Email delivery for keyword alerts
- Domain, SSL, backups: all the unglamorous infrastructure
- Our ability to keep shipping features
What's coming next
- Slack & Discord webhooks
- A public API for builders and researchers
- More tracked channels
A couple other ways you can help us
- Request a streamer you want transcribed on the homepage
- Report broken or weird-looking transcripts, we'll fix them
- Tell a friend! Indie tools live and die by word of mouth
Thanks from the team and have fun searching :)
