StreamTranscripts is a search platform for AI-generated transcriptions of Twitch streams, operated from Portugal. For privacy inquiries, contact us at [email protected].

2. What We Collect

We collect as little as possible:

We do not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. We do not use any third-party analytics services. We do not run ads.

3. Transcript Data (Content from Twitch)

We generate transcripts from Twitch VODs using AI speech recognition. This data is not collected from you directly — it is sourced from content that streamers broadcast on Twitch. Transcripts may contain:

• Spoken words, including names and personal details mentioned on stream
• Stream metadata (title, date, game, duration) from the Twitch API

We process this data under legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — making streaming content searchable serves both viewers looking for specific moments and the broader streaming community. We do not store the original audio or video; only the text transcript is retained.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the GDPR, we process data on the following bases:

• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — rate limiting, abuse prevention, transcript generation and searchability
• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing necessary to provide the service when you create an account or use paid features

5. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the service
• To prevent abuse (rate limiting)
• To process streamer requests and votes

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for their own purposes.

6. Service Providers

We use the following infrastructure providers who may process data on our behalf:

• Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — server hosting and data storage, EU-based

These providers act as data processors under GDPR and process data only on our instructions.

7. Where Your Data Lives

All data is stored on servers in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). We do not transfer data outside the EU.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your data
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data
• Restriction — limit how we use your data
• Portability — receive your data in a standard format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest

Streamers: You can request removal of all transcripts for your channel. We will process removal requests within 30 days. Contact [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD) or any EU supervisory authority.

9. Data Retention

• Transcripts: Kept until the streamer requests removal or the service is discontinued
• Audio files: Deleted immediately after transcription — we do not store recordings
• Account data: Kept until you delete your account
• Server logs: Retained for up to 30 days
• Vote/request IPs: Kept for the lifetime of the request for deduplication

10. Automated Decision-Making

We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.

11. Age Requirement

StreamTranscripts is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
